Blackbridge Furnishings was established by James Fraser Snr in 1984. The business was located next to a striking Black Bridge, which inspired its name. Initially, Blackbridge Furnishings specialised in second-hand furniture but with growing success the business developed and began to offer new design-led and quality-built furniture to customers throughout the Scottish Highlands & Islands and the UK.
Word spread and the growing demand for quality goods and services encouraged Blackbridge Furnishings to expand in 1991. We moved to larger premises on Thornbush Road, at which time James Fraser Jnr finished school and began to work with his father, learning and assisting with the everyday running of the furniture business.
Blackbridge Furnishings continued to evolve and grow and in 2012 after years of dedicated hard work and experience, James Fraser Jnr founded a new branch of the business in Fort William. The store proved to be a big success and inspired James Jnr to launch a third branch in Elgin, which opened doors to the public in 2017.
Black Bridge Furnishings is now more driven, focused and committed than ever. We pride ourselves with the furniture that we offer in our stores and the service we provide to customers. We now carefully select and import goods from all over the world to our 42,000 sq ft central distribution centre. This means our customers always get the best value for money.
